Abbeville strives to give our Citizens a superior level of services. Even with a small tax base, the City of Abbeville maintains high standards in all that we do. Our City Goals are important to us and we practice them on a daily basis. They are as follows:

  • The Community

To Provide a pleasant, safe and economical community in which to live, work and raise a family. To serve as a base for strong commercial and industrial enterprises. To provide a full range of municipal services for residential, commercial and industrial customers alike. To recognize the dignity of all residents regardless of race, creed, or national origin.

  • The Taxpayer

To provide those municipal services required by the community in a timely and cost effective manner. To operate under a balanced budget constantly seeking cost reduction where possible while improving productivity in all departments.

  • The Businessperson

To work closely with all segments of the business community to provide a climate, utilities and other resources necessary to foster new business and the continued growth of existing ones.

  • Public Involvement

The City of Abbeville seeks and encourages public involvement in all its meetings and departmental activities. We believe that a concerned citizen is an involved citizen. The City welcomes invitations to speak or make presentations at local organizations. It is our goal to keep the public informed through periodic publications.

  • City Employees

To provide all City employees an honest days pay for an honest days work. To ensure that all employees are provided with the proper tools and equipment to carry out their job in a timely manner. To be vigilant toward their job safety and provide an equal opportunity for advancement.
