What is your contact information?
City Hall is located at 100 Court Square, in the Opera House on Abbeville's Historic Court Square. Our mailing address is P.O. Box 40, Abbeville, SC 29620. You may call City Hall at (864) 459-5017, or by fax at (864) 459-4273. Click here for a list of City numbers and extensions. You may also send us your questions by email.
What are your hours of operation?
City Hall is open Monday thru Friday, 8:30 to 5:30 pm.
What if I have an emergency that occurs after normal business hours?
For Police Emergencies, dial (864) 366-5832. For Utility Emergencies, dial (864) 366-5677.
What do I do if I have a question about my utility bill?
Call the Public Utilities office at (864) 366-5058. You may also go the office located at 306 Cambridge Street and speak with any of our staff. Make sure to bring a copy of your bill with you. You must speak with the Public Utilities Director Mark Hall if you want a hold placed on your bill. Utility customers can only have 2 holds per year.
How do I get a building permit?
Abbeville County issues Building Permits. Call (864) 366-2400 ext. 224 for more information.
Where do I go to pay a traffic ticket?
If you were written a ticket by the City of Abbeville Police Department, call the Police Department at (864) 366-5832 for more questions. The Police Department is located at 102 South Main St. If the ticket was written by a County officer, payment must be remitted at the Magistrate's Office located in the County's Office Building at 21 Old Calhoun Falls Rd. They may be reached by dialing (864) 446-6500.
Where do I report for Jury Duty?
Jury Duty is usually held in the Opera House located at 100 Court Square. For more information about dates, time, or ineligibility call the Police Department at (864) 366-5832.
Where can I get a Marriage License?
Marriage Licenses are obtained in the Abbeville County Courthouse at 102 Court Square. Call (864) 366-5312 ext. 62 for more information.

Do I need a business license?
If you are a business located inside of City limits, or you conduct business within City limits, you must obtain a business license. Call (864) 459-5017 for more information, or visit our office at City Hall. Click here to download an application.
When does my business license expire and when must it be renewed?
Business licenses expire every year on December 31st. Business owners have until April 15th of the following year to renew their license.
What type of licensing do I need if I am a Contractor?
Contractors must have a State of South Carolina contractor's license before being issued a City business license. Click here to download an application.

Where and how do I pay my City of Abbeville property taxes?
City property taxes are paid at City Hall located in the Opera House at 100 Court Square. They may be paid with cash, check or a credit card. Call (864) 459-5017 for more information regarding your City taxes.
When are taxes due, and what penalties are placed on late payment?
Property tax notices are mailed on November 1st of each year and due by January 15th of the following year. If not paid by January 15th, a 5% penalty is placed on your bill. A 10% penalty will be added if not paid by February 16th, and a 15% penalty will be added if your bill is not paid on or before March 2.
